Inside The Office

What does a typical day in your role look like?

I always start my day by writing things down. I am a big believer in handwritten to-do lists. It helps me stay focused, and there is something satisfying about crossing things off as the day goes on. My work as a designer is super dynamic—one day I might be building out a deck or case study, and the next I’m working on motion graphics, social media assets, or website projects. Every day looks a little different, and that variety keeps things exciting.

What do you love most about your role?

Collaboration, hands down. I really believe in the power of brainstorming and concepting as a team. More heads are better than one, and working through ideas together always leads to the best creative output.

What is a memorable moment when you felt like your work really made an impact at Cognitiv?

Launching the new Cognitiv website last year was a huge moment for me. It was the very first project I started on—literally on day one—and I saw it all the way through to launch. I had a hand in everything from imagery and UX design to motion graphics, and I am really proud of the final result. I hope people who visit the site feel joy and engagement when they land there.

What advice would you give to someone joining #TeamCognitiv?

Get ready to work with some of the kindest, most genuine people out there. Everyone here is so positive and supportive. Also—pro tip—have a few karaoke songs in your back pocket. You will thank me later.

Outside The Office

Is there a quote or piece of advice that has stuck with you throughout your career?

Yes—back in high school, my set design teacher told me, “There are no problems, only challenges.” That has stuck with me ever since. It’s a great reminder that everything is solvable and that obstacles can be worked through.

What would you do if you won the lottery?

So many things! First, I would pay off my student loans—and my friends’ too. Then I would start working on a nonprofit space for the LGBTQIA+ community—a combo library, performance space, coffee shop, and healthcare hub with mental health services and housing support for LGBTQIA+ youth. That would be my big project. After that? Probably a brownstone in Brooklyn, an apartment in Paris, maybe a farmhouse in France. But I would start with the meaningful stuff first.

If you were not in your current role, what would your dream job be?

I think I’d love to be a fiction writer or a travel photographer. I would probably need a bit more training, but that is definitely a dream of mine.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Cycling is a big one for me. I ride my bike everywhere. I am also into yoga, reading sci-fi, and making my own art.
